Musculus obliquus externus abdominis

Origin: on the eight lower ribs.
Insertion:
- labium externum cristae iliacae;
- linea alba (via Rectus sheath of musculus rectus abdominis).
Innervation:
- nervi intercostales (5.–11.);
- nervus subcostalis.
Function:
Formations on the obliquus externus abdominis muscle:
- aponeurosis musculi obliqui externi: the tendon into which the muscle passes forward;
- inguinal ligament: lower thickening of the aponeurosis;
- anulus inquinalis superficialis: entrance to inguinal canal.
