Musculus obliquus externus abdominis

Origin: on the eight lower ribs.

Insertion:

Innervation:

Function:

  • bends spine;
  • changes the tilt of the pelvis;
  • participates in the abdominal press;
  • rotates the spine

Formations on the obliquus externus abdominis muscle:

  • aponeurosis musculi obliqui externi: the tendon into which the muscle passes forward;
  • inguinal ligament: lower thickening of the aponeurosis;
  • anulus inquinalis superficialis: entrance to inguinal canal.
