Bacitracin susceptibility test is used to differentiate β-hemolytic streptococci. It is possible to distinguish between Streptococcus pyogenes, which creates a zone of inhibition around the disc with bacitracin, and Streptococcus agalactiae, which grows up to the disc.
Results:
- positive – Streptococcus pyogenes
- negative – Streptococcus agalactiae
