Trigonum vesicae
From WikiLectures
Trigonum vesicae is the triangular field of the urinary bladder . It is defined by three points. At the back are the mouths of the ureters - ostia ureterum , at the front is the entrance to the urethra - ostium urethrae internum . It is characterized by a smooth surface, i.e. algae are missing here.
Other structures[edit | edit source]
- plica interureterica is a fold of mucosa connecting the ostia of the ureter, supported by muscle. Behind it, the mucous membrane of the bladder is depressed, creating the fossa retrotrigonalis .
- The uvula vesicae is located at the posterior edge of the ostium urethrae internum . It is a mucous membrane raised by means of a vascular ligament. It is not very noticeable in a woman. In men, it is found in the place of the middle lobe of the prostate , which, when enlarged, covers the mucous membrane of the uvula over the ostium urethrae internum , thus preventing the normal outflow of urine.
- Bell's bundles are strips of muscle on the sides that raise the cilia of the mucous membrane .
